Most of our brand story videos took half a day in production, but that does not mean it was an easy job to do. It’s a matter starting off on the right foot. What you do before production day is key to creating a compelling experience in a video for your target audience.

I have listed down three questions that would prepare you for an enjoyable creative journey.
What do you want to talk about?
You need to have a solid topic, a relatable theme. Let’s say you are a chef, instead of the usual cooking lesson videos, why don’t you create an awesome video series where you get to talk about the nutrients inside the ingredients and how combining these ingredients provide healthy results. Why not talk directly to full-time mom’s who want’s to experiment more on the dishes that they prepare for their family? Who knows, you will become more popular going that route instead of the usual way that most chefs are doing their video content.
If you were your audience, would you watch your video?
Yes, it sounds absurd, but if you will produce a video that you can’t watch in the end, then what is the point of producing that video? Watch your output over and over again, watch it with friends, watch it with your loyal followers, and take note of their experience, their reaction while they are consuming the content you create, were there aha moments? did it lead them to ask more questions from you? then you are on the right track!
How can you compete with everyone else?
This is probably the most difficult question to ask, but it’s a harsh reality – you are not alone. As great ideas come out of your mind, most likely, these ideas are also being conceived in the minds of your competitors. But how do you stand out? – Authenticity, do it in a way that you can own, in your tone of voice, with your true personality, if you can talk about your flaws then do so, if you can talk about your pain points, then do so. When things get real, that is where things get more relevant and relatable.
Most content creators spend time worrying about the logistics, what camera to use, what lenses to bring, ambient sound, script, budget, etc. The simplest way to do this effectively is to walk on a film set with unparalleled enthusiasm to tell a story.
So if you have the right tools in hand and well prepared, half a day is a lot of content for you. Once you roll your camera, and you are set to talk about a specific topic, you can film a whole year series of 90-second videos that you can deploy each month on your platform. That is how far a half a day shoot can bring you.
Alexander Graham Bell once said; “Concentrate all your thoughts on the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus.” What would be your focus in telling your brand story through your video? Remember that people enjoy hearing stories from someone who enjoys telling them. So if you won’t enjoy the whole process, then don’t expect too soon that the audience will enjoy your stories as well.
